Access Oklahoma

ACCESS Oklahoma stands for Advancing and Connecting Communities and Economies Safely Statewide

February 2022, Governor Stitt and Secretary of Transportation, Tim Gatz announced "Access Oklahoma," a 15-year infrastructure plan that will improve and enhance the Oklahoma turnpike system. This plan will positively impact several municipalities around the greater OKC metro area and state, including Newcastle, by reducing travel times and enhancing traffic safety.

One phase of the plan includes an "east-west connector" (view map here) that will connect I-35 to I-44. The connector will run from Highway 37 and I-44 in the Tri-City area, east to I-35 and Indian Hills Road. The estimated time for completion of this phase is 5 years or less.
