"Kops and Kids"

What is Kops and Kids?

Our "Kops and Kids" program helps establish positive relationships between police officers and deserving children in the community. It is a very positive experience not only for the kids that are involved, but also for the officers. Part of the fundraising effort is a concession stand at the City’s Annual Fourth of July celebration.

How can a child participate?

Children are nominated by their local school and are able to spend a day shopping with members of the Police Department for essentials. They are given a budget for various items, including a toy, and afterwards the group has lunch together. Our officers and dispatchers know that children may have many questions about how a city works and what police do, and this is a chance for a positive relationship to develop.

Do you take donations?

Absolutely! We welcome participation from the public and our local businesses. Our police chief would be happy to discuss how you can be a part of giving back to the community.
