“We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.” ― Thomas Jefferson
Our city is a complex system with interconnected parts giving life to the whole.
Our roads bring visitors and take us to see things new and old. Our infrastructure, like water and sewer services, help ensure our health and safety. Our police and fire services protect us from injury or damage. And innovative planning and zoning improve a city's current and future health by ensuring that growth and expansion are held to a standard that serves the entire community. Our parks give us a place to reflect and recharge, and give our people a chance to connect with one another on a personal level.
It is our goal within City Government to push for excellence in our actions, to listen to and engage with our citizens, and ultimately make Newcastle stronger and better. As stated by Helen Keller, "Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much."
