Employment Benefits

  • Full-Time Employee Benefits
  • Health Care Programs - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance coverage plans available for employees and their dependents.
  • Retirement, and Savings Programs - City requires participation into the retirement plan for the benefit of the employee. Employees are vested in the plan after 5 years of employment. Plan provides 401k with City matching up to 5% if employee contributes 3% or more.
  • Pension - Police and Fire uniformed employees are covered by their respective State Plans.
  • Vacation and Sick Leave - Vacation time is earned based on your length of employment and increases with longevity. Sick leave is accrued separately at a rate of 8 hour per month after a probationary period of six months.
  • Holiday Pay - The city observes 11 holidays a year. Most departments are closed for these holidays.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - A voluntary, work-based program that offers free and confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, and follow-up services to employees who have personal and/or work-related problems.  EAPs address a broad and complex body of issues affecting mental and emotional well-being, such as alcohol and other substance abuse, stress, grief, family problems, and psychological disorders.
  • Section 125 Cafeteria Plan -  Provides participants an opportunity to receive certain benefits on a pretax basis. Participants in a cafeteria plan must be permitted to choose among at least one taxable benefit (such as cash) and one qualified benefit. See more at IRS.gov or consult your Human Resources Director.
